ALS San Diego Walk 2025

Supporting Sharon our Superhero

Welcome!  In honor of Valerie's Mom (Our Superhero Sharon), we are participating in ALS San Diego's ALS Walk on September 20 to raise funds that will support San Diego individuals and families affected by ALS.

ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease.  Currently there is no known cause or cure.

Since the start of 2025, Sharon has lost her ability to speak, eat, and lift her neck.  Her hands are becoming weaker each day, yet she still continues to type on her phone with one finger to communicate and lets us know that she is keeping her spirits up.  She is hopeful that she will continue to walk slowly as long as possible, and is doing everything possible through her UCSD treatment plan (cutting-edge medications, physical therapy, nutrition through a feeding tube, etc.) -- she is a fighter!

We would love for you to join the walk with us - either in person or in spirit!  If you are local to San Diego, please go to the linked website and click "Register" and then "Click here to join an Existing Team" (our team name is "Supporting Sharon our Superhero").  Website: https://secure.alssandiego.org/site/TR?fr_id=1090&pg=entry#section--participate

For those who are interested in donating, please click the "Donate Now" button above.  Any amount is appreciated!  Your donation will help fund resources and services to the local San Diego ALS community, help find new treatments, and move us closer to a world without this devastating disease.

Thank you to all who have been part of our village.  Your prayers and well wishes mean the world to us!

Please feel free to send this page to any friend or family member who might be interested in walking or donating!

Thank you for your support!
