Welcome to Chris P's Crosby Friends Page!

You may know Chris Palmer from seeing him tooling around The Crosby in his wheelchair. When I first met Chris he was an avid biker, taking 50-mile rides like you and I might take walks around the block. Around five years ago, however, he began noticing a weakness in his left side. This became progressively worse and was ultimately diagnosed as ALS (a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s disease). Since that time, Chris has gone from a cane to a walker and, finally, to a wheelchair.
ALS is an awful disease, but Chris has faced it with courage and optimism. His mantra is “keep smiling”, something you may have witnessed if you’ve seen Chris around the Club. He now wants to take his personal battle with ALS to the next level by raising money for research and helping other ALS sufferers.
ALS San Diego sponsors an annual fundraising walk, not just for research into a cure, but also to make ALS “livable” for those afflicted with this disease. This year the walk will be held at Liberty Station on September 20. I am working to get people from The Crosby/Lakes to support Chris on this walk in a group we are calling “Chris’ Crosby Critters”. You can help by contributing to ALS San Diego (good); walking with us on September 20 (better); or contributing AND walking (best).
We are a blessed and caring community. I hope you will take a few minutes to consider joining Chris’ Crosby Critters by contributing to ALS San Diego in his name and walking with us at Liberty Station on September 20.
