Welcome to My Personal Page

We are sad to announce that Dr. Romy Spitz has passed after a valiant 10 year struggle with ALS. Romy faced everyday with a positive attitude no matter how she was feeling. Romy proudly earned her Doctorate in Philosophy in Psychology, focusing on the cognitive disabilities with in the deaf community. Her selfless devotion to humanity, the deaf community and The ALS communities can never be replaced. For over three decades she spearheaded the cognitive assessment and documentation of every deaf individual in Nicaragua, nearly 4000 individuals. Romy was also the voice of the deaf community in Maine and she represented many of the deaf community throughout the US, in court, as well as in legislation. Romy was loved by friends across the US from Maine to San Diego and will leave a big dent in our hearts. She is survived by her four siblings and her cat Macy. If you would like to donate in Romy's memory, please contact the ALS San Diego.
